ABOUT LULU'S SNOBALLS

Bringing a Taste of New Orleans to Southern California

Lulu’s Snoballs, affectionately named from a childhood nickname, started as a vision to bring a little taste of New Orleans, Louisiana to Southern California. Tanya Collins-Gordon, owner and granddaughter of Creole New Orleans natives, grew up enjoying hot, humid summers made bearable by the delicious, frozen, many-flavored SnoBalls sold by neighborhood corner stores and at the local “Candy Lady’s” house. Tanya holds memories of summers where sticky fingers and multicolored lips and tongues exhibited Creole joy.

These aren’t Sno-CONES. In the mid 1930’s, traditional New Orleans SnoBalls were imagined and brought to life due to the invention of the first ice-shaving machines. Sno-Cones are made with chunky and coarse crushed ice, while SnoBalls are formed using light, fluffy, shaved ice; like fresh fallen snow! This makes all the difference as the sugary syrups added to a Sno-Cone will drip to the bottom of the cup but when added to the SnoBall, the fluffy ice absorbs every sugary drop.

Uniquely New Orleans flavors also make SnoBalls a completely different journey for your tastebuds. Both Sno-Cones and SnoBalls offer a variety of fruity creations and mixtures like strawberry, pina colada, fruit punch and banana, but traditional New Orleans flavors include concoctions mixed with creams like Pralines and Pecans, Bananas Foster and King Cake. Lulu’s SnoBalls offer a variety of taste experiences that will have you wanting to try every single distinctive combination.

Our small, family-owned SnoBall truck resides in the heart of Riverside, California. Our goal is to provide that indescribable feeling of New Orleans to you. We want to share with our Southern California community a small piece of our culture, our unique traditions and our happy childhood memories by bringing authentic, New Orleans SnoBalls to your special event.
